This cabinet was made for a local coffee house. It's 4/4 poplar & hung on the wall with a hard maple French cleat. The finished piece is about 60 inches long, 26 inches wide, and 16 inches deep.
The cabinet started with two 12' long, 17" wide boards of poplar, both from the same tree.
Then some dovetails. I cut them by hand, tails first.
Then I plowed the groove for the back,
Next up was assembling the carcass and fitting the back. I pre-finished the back using a shop made Maloof finish.
After that all I had to do was make up some shelves and the French Cleat (I used hard maple for that). I made a simple thumbnail molding for the shelves with a rabbeting block plane and jointer. The finish is just a simple Maloof finish.
